Our own David Horton received a Certificate of Appreciation recently from Member for Eden Monaro Kristy McBain as part of the recognition of "Change Makers" part of Volunteers Week 2023!

This is the commendation that accompanied David's award:

David is a founding member of our Cooperative and served as its inaugural Chair from 1986 until the organisation's 35 year, which was also David's 85th year of age.

What we feel is of "Change Maker" significance, and especially crucial for such a small organisation as ours, is David's dedication to organisational succession planning.

Board members support our Secretary in operational as well as strategic matters, and David had contemplated retiring as Chair for some time.

What was eventually demonstrated as of greater importance to David (than acting in his own interest following decades of service), was the organisation's ongoing sustainability, its change and growth.

As a "Change Maker", in 2021 David made recommendations to KHC board members that Viv Cox be invited to join the board, with a view to replacing him as Chair.

David continues his contribution to the organisation by participating as Board Advisor and an Executive Committee member.
