Local Community Organisations

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Karabar Housing Cooperative has proudly developed strong ties with local community organisations including the Lions Club of Queanbeyan and the Rotary Club of Jerrabomberra.

The Cooperative works closely with the Queanbeyan and District Anglican Church,

St Benedict's Community Centre and HOME in Queanbeyan, sharing a common interest in providing safe and affordable housing for those in need in Queanbeyan.

We collaborate with St Benedict’s and Celebration Community to ensure all housing applicants and tenants have access to appropriate housing, advocacy and practical support when necessary.

We enjoy head lease arrangements with the Queanbeyan and District Anglican Church on two parcels of land where the majority of the Cooperative's townhouses are situated. Leases are in place until 2044, which demonstrates the commitment of both organisations to our shared mission and common goals.

WE THANK ALL OF OUR PARTNERS FOR THEIR ONGOING SUPPORT.

LIONS CLUB OF QUEANBEYAN

Lions Community Bookshop

The Cooperative thanks the Lions Community Bookshop for its amazingly generous and regular donations over several years.  These donations have contributed to the cost of replacing floor coverings and installing reverse-cycle air conditioning units in Karabar Housing homes.

We also thank members of the Lions Club of Queanbeyan who assisted the Cooperative host its very successful pilot barbecue for tenants post-COVID.

ROTARY JERRABOMBERRA

Support from Rotary Jerrabomberra has allowed Karabar Housing to upgrade a bathroom for one of our senior tenants, and to beautify the grounds of the complex known as Beth Shalom.

Beth Shalom is a 6-unit complex owned by the Queanbeyan and District Anglican Church (QDAC).  The intention behind the existence of Beth Shalom has been to provide low-cost accommodation for parishioners and people in need in the Queanbeyan area.  Karabar Housing provides property management support services to QDAC for Beth Shalom.
